Community: Văleni

With a surface of 3.487 acres, Văleni commune is a German settlement characterised by a hilly relief, the highest peeks, Cetăţuia and Corhana, which guard Văleni village, Moreni, Munteni and David, having less than 400 m altitude. The climate is temperate-continental, the annual medium temperature being 9°C. The four appertaining villages are crossed by Moldova river, which flows into Siret. Arable lands, pastures, vineyards, orchards and forests create the scenery of the commune.

The inhabitants of Văleni commune are first of all proud of the dendrological park existent in the locality, which has a varied flora, with unique species in the country. Also, the four churches and the manor house are other few elements which give a certain distinctive air to the settlement.

History

Văleni village is mentioned for the first time in an exchange between Cozma Snake and Iirsa of Tucepi, dated 14 April 1506. In exchange for the village is named after skiing and said that the settlement is the time: "Sir Alexander asset", which leads to certification of the village beginning of the XV century if not before.
