Community: Beştepe

Situated in the north of Dobrogea, at 3 km of the right bank arm of Saint George, Beștepe village represents an area with a very special physical-geographical aspect, a flora and fauna characteristic for the Dobrogea lore.

Beștepe is a newly founded village in 2004, situated 25 km away of Tulcea city, on the road connecting the Tulcea and Mahmudia. Together with the Lower Băltenii villages (located on the right bank of Danube) and Upper Băltenii (on the left bank of Danube), they make up Bestepe village.

History

The first information about Bestepe colonization is related to the Turks and Tartars, Ottoman government carried out in Dobrogea, in 1584, when some of these colonists were settled in the village Bes - Depe. Local resources

Bestepe resources are diverse; large areas of agricultural land, space suitable for tourism and agro-tourism development, yellow land, reed, rush, ghiol land, limestone, suitable for the wind parks, these being some of the most important local resources, but the lack of investors did not allow their usage.

Traditions

Most traditions which have been preserved over the years in the village Bestepe are specific for the religious holidays, for Christmas: carols, "The Star", on the eve of New Year "Urat", and on New Year "Sorcova" and "Sowing".
